Beginner Dog Training Classes Please Print This Page
We use positive reinforcement to teach you and your dog to: walk together (no pulling on leash), sit, down, stay, come when called and more. We also cover: Housebreaking, jumping on people, leaving things alone when told and health/safety issues. As much individual attention as possible is provided during class time. All family members may attend, although only one handler can work with the dog at any one time. Children are welcome to attend and encouraged to work with parental supervision at home; however groups are designed for adults.
Beginner Group Details
  • $155 for 6 weeks  
  • Small groups:  6-8 dogs per class 
  • Classes are approximately 1 hour (50 minutes) except for... 
  • First week of class is usually 90 minutes and without dogs 
  • 6' leash required after week 1 (no chain or retractable leashes) 
  • We use a variety of collars, headcollars and equipment based on the individual situation.  More info week 1. 
  • All adult family members should attend and may take turns working the dog  
  • All groups require non refundable prepaid registration to ensure your enrollment (see terms page for details) 
  • Each class builds on previous classes, please call us if you are unable to attend any class.  We will send/fax you the written assignments and you may purchase a private make-up session if needed.

Classes fill quickly, register soon!  Additional classes occasionally added as needed.
2008 START DATES
for each 6 week class 

Classes meet once a week (50 minutes) for 6 weeks, except for FIRST CLASS (required) which is usually 90 minutes without dogs (usually at 7pm for all groups). 
Each class begins on specified date below.
Age Definitions:   "Puppies" = 12 weeks to 6 months old.  "Adults" = 6 months and older

SUNDAYS:  10/12/08 (6pm and 7pm: full, wait list forming for 8 pm class, please call!), 12/7/08
Puppies 6 p.m., Adults 7 p.m.
WEEK 1 time for all classes : 7 p.m. (no dogs)

MONDAYS: 11/10/08
Puppies: 8 p.m., Adult dogs 6 or 7 p.m.
WEEK 1 time for all classes: 7 p.m. (no dogs)

Classes will usually NOT be held on major holidays.  Please call if you have specific questions about dates.

JUST ADDED CLASSES:
 When available, to register for extra classes, use easy secure on line registration and choose "other".  Also, you can register by phone, fax or send completed form with payment.  "Added" classes will be canceled if enrollment is insufficient, so consider also registering for a regularly scheduled class also, to assure you have a place. If you do not need the "backup" enrollment, it will be canceled at no charge to you (please remind us as soon as possible!)

  4. Visit us with registration & during our retail/office hours: Mondays 3-6 p.m., Thursdays 12-6 p.m and Sundays 11 a.m.. to 1 p.m.  
  5. Call us during our office and retail hours to secure your enrollment by phone.

Class size is limited to 6-8 dogs;  acceptance is on a first come first serve  basis (fees will be returned if class is full). Feel free to call if you have any questions.  Please check your schedule carefully, we want you to participate fully to get the most from classes!  We will NOT have classes on most major holidays (call if you have specific concerns).  If you absolutely must miss a class, we will be happy to send you the written sheet &/or speak to you by phone at no charge. Mini-makeup sessions (30 minutes) may be purchased at $35 each for weeks 2-6 for more personal feedback. We usually confirm by phone a few days before class, but mark your calendar now!  (Remember 90 minute dogless first week time may be different)
